The health and well-being of our patients is our top priority. As news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community continues to develop, we are monitoring the situation closely.
At this time, our clinic will be closed for until March 20, 2020. We will be making decisions at that time about our operating hours as we move forward from that day. Currently in Ontario cases of COVID 19 are all related to international travel and / or close contact with someone who has travelled in their family. There are some reports of community transmission within the GTA. The risk of being exposed to COVID 19 is increasing in Ontario. With the increase in the number of cases we are taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of our patients and our staff in our facility by increasing our infection control measures by enhancing our cleaning protocols throughout the day, focusing on high traffic areas above the current standards set out by public health.
Pre-Screening Processes
Prior to visiting the clinic, you will be asked specific questions about your current health and travel history. These questions are not meant to infringe on your privacy; rather, they are measures that we are taking to protect you and our entire HPSM community. We have revised our screening policy to ensure that any individual(s) at risk of having or spreading COVID-19 are identified immediately and that the appropriate steps are taken.
Our comprehensive screening process includes the following four steps:
- Phone Pre-Screening: Our administrative team will be asking questions about health and travel related history.
- Screening Prior to Entering the Clinic: Outside of the clinic doors, you will notice signage that alerts visitors of the screening criteria. Please read these carefully and follow the directions before entering the clinic.
- Screening at Reception Desk: Once you have entered the clinic, our reception team will ask questions to confirm that the appropriate screening has been completed.
- Screening During Visit: Our clinicians will continue to monitor the health status of our clients during their visits. If a change occurs, our screening protocol will be initiated.
Our preliminary screening questions include:
- Have you, anyone in your household, or any sick person you have been in contact with travelled to another country within the past 14 days?
- Have you, anyone in your household, or any sick person you have been in contact with had close contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19?
If you have answered YES to these questions, additional follow-up questions will be asked to determine the best course of action for your health.
IMPORTANT
If you are experiencing fever and/or respiratory flu-like symptoms, please call us to cancel your appointment at any time without penalty. If possible, please adhere to our 24-hour cancellation policy so that we can notify our clinicians of the change with as much notice as possible. If you fail to disclose all pertinent health and travel information during the pre-screening process, and enter the clinic experiencing symptoms, the appointment will need to be cancelled, and you will be subject to the cancellation fee.
As part of our measures, we ask that the patient/client attend appointments. If the patient/client is a minor, we ask that ONLY ONE CAREGIVER attend appointments. PLEASE LEAVE SIBLINGS AT HOME, IF POSSIBLE. This is intended to limit the number of non-essential visitors to the clinic.
